Chitra Sabhai (9 min walk (650 m)via Five Falls Main Rd) from Ezhilagam

 

Kutralam represents one of the 5 Pancha Sabhas of Nataraja – Chitra Sabhai. The five dance halls of Shiva are Chidambaram, Madurai, Tiruvalankadu, Tirunelveli and Kutralam. Kutralam is also known as Trikootaachalam.

The Chitra Sabhai is a hall of pictures and displays a beautiful painting of Lord Natraja. The interiors of the temple is decked with beautiful murals, depicting images from the Indian epics and history. The place is mesmerizing. They charge an entrance ticket of Rs.10 per person, camera and mobiles are not allowed.

 

Chitraruvi 9 min (700 m) from Ezhilagam

Chitraruvi is located adjacent to the Main Falls. The size of the falls is comparatively small and the people who are scared of Peraruvi (Main Falls) can literally enjoy Chitraruvi. Separate sections are present both for men and women to take bathe. Chitraruvi or the Small Falls lead to other waterfalls such as Shenbaga Devi Falls and Thenaruvi. Shenbaga Devi cascade is located above Chitraruvi and an adventurous trek uphill, through the Chitraruvi forest, leads to the falls. The stream of water is believed to have rich herbal and therapeutic properties.
